System Facilities, a division of Scotsman Press, Inc., developed and marketed production software for small and mid-sized newspapers for several years. Although its primary emphasis was on classified and editorial systems, it also networked graphic production hardware and software. Through this experience with the graphic side of the business, it gained significant experience and expertise in the use of vellum as a alternative to film in the printing process.

By working with a speciality paper manufacturer System Facilities was able to formulate a vellum with exceptional ability to maintain its shape when processed through the heat of a laser printer as well as achieving unmatched toner adhesion.
